To adopt a cat from our rescue:
Call 925-838-1838 or email info@persiancats.org unless otherwise noted on the cat’s info.
We will then make a time for a phone interview, application review, and will check your references.

Adoption Criteria
- Prior experience caring for Persians/Himalayans is preferred but not required in all cases.
- An adoption fee of $275-$450, depending on the extent of pre-adoption medical expenses incurred
- Veterinary references and two personal references
- Indoor homes only
- No declawing or tendonectomies (some cats are already declawed)
- Proper grooming, food, water, attention and veterinary care
- Notification if your cat becomes lost
- A promise to return the cat to us if the placement does not work out
- Are you prepared to give a cat a home for the next 15-20 years?

Please be patient with us. We all work full-time and do this as volunteer work. Occasionally, your email or phone message may get lost in the shuffle. Some of our cats think they are computer consultants and walk on the keyboard. They have been known to delete or transfer emails. If you feel you’ve been overlooked, please send us another message. We usually respond within 24 hours to email and 48 hours or less to phone messages. The cats always come first, so if we have new cats that require intensive care, our response time is delayed. It is our goal to have your application approved w/in 3-4 days of receiving it. Please do us a favor and let your veterinarian know that we will be calling for a reference. That will help move things along quickly.
Remember, adoption is a commitment to many years of love and care for your new friend!
